I’m happy to be back in Los Angeles after a 10 day trip to both New York City and my hometown of New Orleans. The first leg of the trip was spending 6 days in NYC with my mom. We went shopping, to museums (the Met and MOMA) and to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. It had been 3 years since I was last in New York and it was nice to see the city again and spend some time with my mom. One of the trip highlights was when I met up with pals to gorge on vegan food and watch movies. We met at Atlas Cafe to eat our way through the Tuesday delivery of Vegan Treats and then hopped a train to Brooklyn for my first dining experience at Champs and then to BAMcinematek to see my first Cassavetes’ film SHADOWS. It was a really great night and provided a much-needed solo endeavor in the middle of our trip.
I only had 3 real days to spend in New Orleans and made sure to pack them full of some of my favorite people and places. The top of those lists include eating Vietnamese food at Pho Tau Bay, getting a snowball from the 74-year-old Hansen’s, taking a ferry ride across the Mississippi river, and spending the day with my BFF Lauren and her husband Craig and taking the tour of their new house! While I love living in Los Angeles, being away has made me appreciate all that I love about my hometown.
Enough with my ramblings, here are some photos from the trips:
